Winter Tournament 2016

Registration Instructions:
All players may register and submit payments at any York University Badminton Club (“YUBC”) tabling event or during.
YUBC club hours as follows:
Westfield House Gym (Tait, 2nd floor): Monday and Thursdays 1pm-4pm;
Upper Gym (Tait, 3rd floor): Fridays 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
*At least one partner must register and pay for both players in cash before enrollment
is complete.

Date and time:
February 16th, 9:30am to 6:00pm.

Location:
Tait Mckenzie’s Upper Gym, York University.

Participants:
Semi-Open to all; non-york participants must be accompanied with a york affiliated partner.
All York University participants must provide a valid York University student identification card.

Events:
Women’s Doubles, and Men’s Doubles.

Registration Deadline:
February 15, 2015, limited entries (18 teams per category).

Eligibility and registration Fees:

York Participants (or participants with Tait Mckenzie Membership):
$10 for YUBC Members.
$18 for non-YUBC Members.
$20 for non-YUBC Members who wish to receive a Winter 2016 YUBC Membership (Price includes membership).
Free for York student spectators.

Non York Participants (without Tait Mckenzie Membership):
$23 for non-York Participants.
$25 for non-York Members who wish to receive a Winter 2016 YUBC Membership (Price includes membership).
$10 for non-York student spectators (pay to YUBC).

Format:
Open to all levels.
Round Robin format.
ABC Flight system.
Each team will be guaranteed 3 games.
Pool play matches (first two games) will be one game to 31 points, with no deuce.
Flight play matches (third game and beyond) will be a best of three games to 21 points, with deuce capping at 30 points.
Nylon birds will be provided. Feather birds are allowed only when both teams agree to use and must be supplied by the players.

Prizes:
Over $1000 worth of total prizes.
Prizes will be given to the Champions and Runner-Ups of Each Flight.
Each player will receive one free complimentary raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets are: $1 each, $5 for 7, and $10 for 15.

Apparel, equipment, and eyewear:
All participants must wear appropriate sport attire in accordance with the York University Badminton Club Member

Code of Conduct.
All junior age (<18) participants must wear protective eyewear.
All participants are expected to bring their own badminton racket.
YUBC has a limited number of rackets to lend.

Absences:
All players are given five minutes to arrive at their matches before disqualification.
Refunds must be requested one week before the tournament deadline; otherwise, refunds will be withheld or made in partially.

Legal:
Players who fail to abide by the rules of conduct of York University, York University Badminton Club, Tait Mckenzie, and/or Ontario Badminton Association may result in disqualification from the tournament and/or cancellation of yubc membership without refund.
